Separating The Dust
Separating The Dust is a strong drama dealing with adult themes of loss, personal grief, and the breaking up of a Final Will and Testament; but more than that, it deals with the breaking up of a dysfunctional family. This story has evolved from stories told to me and from this a strong and poignant one act play has formed.
Shattered Reflection
Christine suffers from a mental illness and personality disorder and this is exacerbated by her addition to a cocktail of illicit drugs and alcohol. She has a Masters Degree in Arts Science and Degrees in Business Management. Without a tendency to be able to commit to relationships and feelings of true love, her only outlet for sex is rent boys on a Friday night.

Separating The Dust
The mourners have left, their kind thoughts exchanged, the sandwiches and tea have been served. After the funeral service for Mrs Virginia Cromwell, her sons Michael and Chad discuss their mother’s Final Will and Testament. It’s no secret to the boys their late mother’s Final Will and Testament has been divided equally. Chad makes his announcement to contest the Will for his lions share; Michael defends his ground. Chad’s wife, Raelene makes her true feelings known about Michael to both of them, which only aggravates the underflow of smouldering years of unspoken hatred between the three of them. The little church on the hill where the funeral service for Mrs Virginia Cromwell was held prepares for another funeral service to be held at five. This one act play will be produced during the VDL One Act Play series.
Audition Notice - Desperately Seeking Oscar
Shattered Reflection Written by Darren Brealey Directed by Elizabeth Penny We are seeking a talented male actor to play the role of Oscar in our upcoming production of Shattered Reflection. This ensemble cast requires one male actor who can play an age range between 22 and 27. Oscar is studying sketch arts at University and instead of working in a restaurant or bar to earn an income to survive his University years; he works as a male prostitute. Oscar grew up in a loving home, but his parents never encouraged him to apply his talents as an artist. During his childhood, whenever he got close enough to someone, they would leave him. This affects him in his current relationships and tries to prove to himself he can hold down a relationship, no matter the cost. There is much more to this deep and complicated character – visit http://www.cosmicplayers.com to find out more about Oscar, Shattered Reflection and the current cast who you will be working with. Our first night working together as a team started with a reading of the script and a Q&A information evening. Serious rehearsals have yet to start, which means the male actor playing the role of Oscar will not be behind the eight-ball in trying to catch up to the others. There are four in the cast in total, including Oscar. Shattered Reflection will be staged at the Guild Theatre, Union House, Melbourne of University from 23 to 28 September, 2008; six performances in total, as part of the 2008 Melbourne Fringe Festival. We are also looking at performing in other venues and festivals. This is a Profit / Share production. Please visit http://www.cosmicplayers.com to find out more information about the script and register for your audition date and time. Auditions are on Thursday 17 from 7:30PM and Sunday 20 September from 2:00PM. We look forward to hearing from you.
