Auditions

The Wind In The Willows
Expressions of interest are sought now for potential cast and crew for this production based on the classic book by Kenneth Grahame and adapted by Tasmanian playwright Les Winspear. This is an unpaid community theatre production. An information night and play reading will be held on Tuesday 1 July 2008 at 7.00pm at Twyford Hall, Market Street Merimbula. Auditions will follow on 3 and 4 July at a different venue and casting will be finalised by mid July to give people plenty of time to plan their summer holidays around the production schedule. Rehearsals will start around mid September (Every Mon/Wed evening except Oct school holidays, plus a few Sundays). The show will be held in Dec/Jan outdoors at Mandeni Resort in Merimbula. All performances are during daytime (morning/afternoon). There will be two school/preschool performances in the last week of term 4 (week starting Dec 15), then six weekend performances on the following weekends: 20/21 Dec 2008, 3/4/10/11 January 2009. The script calls for 5 actors (male and female) who each play one of the 5 main roles as well as one or more minor roles: Actor 1 Mole, Bargewoman Actor 2 Rat, Policeman, Weasel Actor 3 Otter, Weasel, Gertrude Actor 4 Badger, Head Weasel Actor 5 Toad, Weasel We are looking for adults/late teens to take on the major roles. However, depending on the strength of the auditions, we may cast some other adults/ late teens to take on some or all of the minor roles. Younger actors (10 and over) are welcome to audition for the weasel roles. Crew roles will include props and set designer/constructors, musical arranger, wardrobe designer, wardrobe assistants, makeup designer/assistant, production manager/stage manager, stage hands, sound FX/operator, box office volunteers, front of house volunteers, audience wranglers and "weasel wranglers".

Adapted by Les Winspear 2008 marks 100 years since the first publication of Kenneth Grahame's classic tale "The Wind in the Willows". Spectrum Theatre Group Inc is delighted to present this outdoor theatre adaptation by Tasmanian playwright Les Winspear in association with The Australian Script Centre. This summer holiday family event is to be held at Mandeni Family Fun Park on Sapphire Coast Drive Merimbula.
