| Anything Goes is a gloriously screwball musical that escapes into the madcap world of luxury cruising, where gangster meets priest, revivalist turns nightclub singer, and chaos ensues on a cruise ship sailing from New York to England.
Billy Crocker, in pursuit of Hope Harcourt, the dainty debutante engaged to Lord Evelyn Oakleigh, the uppercrust Englishman favored by Hope’s mother, Evangeline Harcourt, the outspoken matriarch who is shocked by the scandalous endeavors of Moonface Martin, the not-so-smart comic gangster and Erma, his delightfully flirtatious off-sider, are lead by the show stopping Reno, who, with her ‘Angel’ showgirls, manages to tie this fast paced, classic musical comedy together.
This 1935 Broadway hit and 1988 Tony Award winner for Best Revival, will return in May 2010 to the Besen Centre, Burwood, with a tight, vibrant cast portraying multiple roles, singing up a storm and dancing up a treat!
With toe-tapping routines to the magical tunes of Cole Porter, we drift away to the sounds of ‘I Get a Kick Out of You’, ‘You're The Top’, ‘It’s De-lovely’, ‘Friendship’, and, of course, the title song ‘Anything Goes’. |
